In a time of Uncertainty

While the world is uncertain where it's going, how or why in this chaos of a pandemic, almost a year ago for the first time ever Walt Disney World Resort closed its doors and docked it's ships for an uncertain amount of time leaving thousands of people out of work. While Disney paid their employees for several months, they finally had to make the tough decision to start lay offs. Over 30,000 people out of a job. While Disney has re-opened, with limited capacity, many places still closed etc. many Disney cast members still struggle to find their place in this uncertain world.

This is a tale of one cast member who utilized her time and talents to start a grocery delivery business to deliver groceries to the theme park resorts. Say hey to Marci's Magical Deliveries.


Marci has been with the Walt Disney Company since 2002 and is currently furloughed from Disney Cruise Line shoreside. Her main role was to ensure Guests had the proper citizenship paperwork for their cruise, track down delayed or lost luggage, book private transportation (including Minnie Vans) to and from the port, and lots of other behind the scenes details required for each sailing. Before online shopping was even a thing, Marci used to help out with a grocery shopping service in Massachusetts when she lived there and she shopped for the elderly, between 80-120 people every day, 5 days a week. Marci had a great time shopping and helping people who were not able to get to the grocery store to get what they needed. She realized after visiting friends at Riviera and bringing them groceries, other Guests really wanted the same service so she knew then that she needed to help the resort guests!

"Something that I thought would allow me to assist a few families a week has grown more than I ever thought it would and I have been booked solid for a month. Being this busy has allowed me to help 3 other impacted Cast Members and we now have a total of 4 drivers delivering groceries and gift baskets to Guests both on and off Disney property. It has truly been an amazing time and my team and I are happy to still be providing some magic for our Guests, it is what we do best!"

Grocery orders are placed online and then Marci and her team pick up all of the items and ensure everything is in perfect condition, then off to your resort we go! They can also create gift baskets or welcome baskets for guests or clients. Each basket is a reusable tote bag (Disney of course!) and is filled with all sorts of goodies based upon the recipients likes.


Next time you are at a Resort in Orlando and need snacks, drinks, or a full blown grocery list, consider using furloughed cast members like Marci and her team to get what you need efficiently, safely and without losing time in the parks! After all, who wants to grocery shop on vacation?
