Take me on the Monorail

Whoever says Disney is just for kids must have never been on a Monorail Crawl! Walt Disney World has 3 resorts on the monorail loop- The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, and The Contemporary. These are deluxe level resorts with many restaurants and bars on each property! We got a group together to try out some of the eats and sips on the Monorail!

Our first stop was The Polynesian. There are two bars here, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Tambu Lounge. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is the more popular option as it has a tiki room theme and each drink you order the servers will do something fun and interactive!

I highly recommend checking the hours and check in as soon as they open or at least stop here first to check in. We checked in as soon as we arrived at The Polynesian and then went upstairs to have dinner at Kona Cafe. We ate the Pork Belly Ramen, Sticky Wings, and Spicy Tuna Roll. The drinks we tried here were the Bahama Mama and Puka Punch. We are not as crazy about the food here, but the drinks were great! Right after dinner we were called for our Trader Sam’s reservation, perfect timing! We had the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum, Krakatoa Punch, and Uh-Oa. If you order the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum they’ll give you maraccas and sing The Tiki Room song! The Uh-Oa is to be shared between 2 people and is hands down one of the most interactive drinks to order! Trader Sam’s does allow people under 21 to enter before 8pm, but at 8pm the bar does become 21+ only.

Stop 2 was The Grand Floridian. There are a few restaurants on site such as Citricos and Grand Floridian Cafe. We chose to just go straight to the bar Enchanted Rose and have small bites there. Highly recommend the truffle fries for a snack! The drinks we had were the Kir Royale and Lavender Fog, both were delicious! We also may or may not have gotten into some shenanigans at The Grand Floridian… quoting Princess Diaries, dancing in the hallway, and we had the entire patio at Enchanted Rose singing Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid; a core memory for all of us!

Our last stop for the night was The Contemporary. There are two great restaurants at The Contemporary; Steakhouse 71 and California Grill. Both of these restaurants also have a bar area that you can sit at! Due to time we did not make it to California Grill, but here is a tip: if you have a small group (2-3 people) you can try to get a drink at the bar area, they will hold your seats, and you can watch the fireworks from their balcony and they pipe the music in! We went to Steakhouse 71 lounge and had a spicy margarita, Last Concourse, and Tequila Sunrise for Two. Remember you can always ask nicely for the bartender to make a drink not on the menu. Maria asked for a spicy margarita and it was delicious! The Last Concourse and Tequila Sunrise for Two are on the menu and also are great options!

We had one of the best nights we have ever had on our Monorail Crawl and all of the cast members we encountered were so much fun!

I hope this gets you excited for your next Disney Trip!Tag us @hotmessmagicalexpress if you try any of these drinks on your next monorail crawl! Also reach out to 1901 Mainstreet Travel on instagram, facebook, or by email

See you real soon!
